Bears: Johan played bass in this Western Massachusetts based 4-piece rock band in the early 2000’s.
Rigg Elevens: Johan and Lord Harpoon combined on drum machine, keyboard, and guitar to attempt telling the story of Rigg Elevens, a fictional MLB pitcher who pitched a perfect game, with a song for every out recorded. We almost finished it.
Gelatinous Muck: Founded by Doctor Dare, Professor Porter, and Trapezoid Bruce, Johan was invited into the fold of what would grow into a ten-piece band cartoon adventure in goof hop. It made college even more collegiate.
RIJ: Officially reduced to an acronym, RIJ was Miracle Johan and Doctor Dare dueling keyboards and drum machine and then layering some of the most beautiful and sophisticated songs and lyrics on top of it.
Martian Five: Johan played guitar and sang in this Burlington VT based four-piece rock band.
Subtronic Messengers: Three quarters of the Martian Five, Johan moved to drums for this instrumental space dub rock basement project.
The Crave: A Bears-era side project, Johan’s on bass here with Greg (drums, from Bears) and AKG (guitar) in a three-piece power trio.
From From: More a concept than a band, From From was assembled when Johan lived in Milwaukee and featured four players who assembled for one single show without ever having played together before.
There was one band meeting where general guidelines and expectations were discussed. Johan is on bass here. The name “From From” is a long time joke from when Johan and Delroy used to test out band names by dropping them in radio station spots, ie “Hi, I’m Johan from From From and you’re listening to WZLX!” Funny, right?
